At approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, members of the Charles County Sheriff’s office were called to investigate reports of gunshots fired inside the mall, allegedly by a group of teenagers.
No victims were reported.
Members of the sheriff’s office quickly responded, and reported that the scene was clear before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, and one person was taken into custody. A weapon was also reportedly recovered at the mall.
The mall was closed as a precaution on Sunday to allow the sheriff’s deputies to investigate, though it was expected to be reopened for regular business on Monday, May 8.
No information about the shooter has been released.
